A deadly virus has now spread throughout the world leading to catastrophic numbers of deaths and causing those who do not die to change. After this changing, the people seek out others who have become like themselves, and try to eliminate any of those who have not changed. Civilization has eroded to become a 'survival at any cost' way of life. A group of dissimilar and unlikely heroes has been drawn together for special purpose. To protect the one known as 'The Chosen One', the person the mysterious guardians have selected to save the planet.

The Players-Ben- his own guardian protects him in a way that makes him virtually indestructible.

Bill and Tony- their love endures even as Tony realizes her power as The Chosen One.

Joe and Tammy- ex-military man who will give himself if necessary to protect The Chosen One and the young girl he loves like his own.

Stalker -the giant wolf who sees things clearer than most humans do.

Rita and Ross- man and machine, who will attempt the untried to save the world.

Todd- leader of the others, evil personified answering to no one but his mysterious master.

Two months have gone by in which the chosen one and her followers and protectors have laid in wait until time to begin the journey again. During this time, their strongest enemies have been growing in power and purpose and the remainder of their journey is destined to be the most hazardous of all. Note: This story has many graphic and possible disturbing scenes of violence throughout.

After reading THE CHOSEN ONE, I quickly became a fan of this talented writer and his work. Therefore, it is no surprise that when the chance to review this second book of the series was brought to me, I quickly snatched it up. I must tell you it was another of those 'I am so glad I picked this book to read' choices! After reading and being so impressed by the first book it would have been easy for this tale to be a letdown, just not quite living up to what I was expecting it to be. That in no way was the case...In fact perhaps the opposite. I expected this book to carry on the story and to keep my interest along the way. However, I did not expect to once again be swept into the story completely, unable to stop reading until I knew where it all would end. As in the first book, this one has an
undercurrent of horror, mixed with a blend of action and adventure, paranormal and suspense. With so many characters, it would be easy to get confused as to who was who but due to crafty storytelling, the author keeps it all straight and easy to follow. I also found Mr. Baker's view of what the world would come to in the face of such horrible disaster to be so well plotted that it is easy to imagine a day where this could come to pass. Scary but probably pretty dead-on. Once again the only fault found is in my having to wait for the next story to find out where fate will lead these characters I have grown to know so well. A great tale well deserving of 5 cups!

To qualify for the bar examination in most States, an applicant usually must earn a college degree and graduate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) or the proper State authorities. ABA accreditation signifies that the law school�particularly its library and faculty�meets certain standards developed to promote quality legal education. ABA currently accredits 188 law schools; others are approved by State authorities only. With certain exceptions, graduates of schools not approved by the ABA are restricted to taking the bar examination and practicing in the State or other jurisdiction in which the school is located; most of these schools are in California. In 2002, eight States accepted the study of law in a law office as qualification for taking the bar examination; three jurisdictions�California, the District of Columbia, and New Mexico�now accept the study of law by correspondence. Several States require registration and approval of students by the State Board of Law Examiners, either before the students enter law school or during their early years of legal study. Although there is no nationwide bar examination, 48 States, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands require the 6-hour Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) as part of the overall bar examination; the MBE is not required in Louisiana and Washington. The MBE covers issues of broad interest, and sometimes a locally prepared State bar examination is given in addition to the MBE. The 3-hour Multistate Essay Examination (MEE) is used as part of the bar examination in several States. States vary in their use of MBE and MEE scores.
